Sensei Collin Green began his karate journey in South Africa about three decades ago. He joined the IOGKF while still in school, but had to interrupt his training to complete 2 years of military service. After being released from military service, Sensei Collin decided to practice Shotokan karate, where he competed in various competitions. He has won multiple medals, including a bronze medal for kata and a gold medal for kumite at the All Styles National Competition. However, not being satisfied with competitions, he again sought out traditional karate with an emphasis on self defence and character development. He then joined a karate organisation founded by Sensei James Rousseau, one of the original founders of IOGKF International, where he has obtained the rank of sandan (3rd dan black belt).
Several years ago, Sensei Collin decided to move to Australia and founded the Southside Traditional Goju Karate Club. Having rejoined the IOGKF through the Australian Okinawan Goju-ryu Karate-do Federation, he was re-graded to sandan and is now a senior instructor in AOGKF.
Sensei Collin has a vast experience in Goju-ryu having trained all over the world, including in Okinawa, Japan - the birthplace of Karate. Sensei Collin enjoys analysing bunkai and kakie in particular, and has also been crowned a National Champion for the AOGKF Friendship Tournaments.
If you want to learn karate in Brisbane, then Sensei Collin Green is the Sensei for you. He is the only instructor in the Queensland capital to be recognised by the IOGKF, the world's largest Okinawan karate body.
